All-New Adobe Social Now Supports Flickr, Foursquare, Instagram and LinkedIn

Adobe Digital Marketing Forum — Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE) today announced the availability of the all-new Adobe® Social, which now features integration with Flickr, Foursquare, Instagram and LinkedIn, in addition to social predictive publishing capabilities, a mobile user interface, streamlined reporting, and new collaborative features. Adobe Social is the first solution specifically designed to leverage the new Adobe Marketing Cloud interface, which enables on-the-go marketing capabilities from any device. Adobe Social, a key element of Adobe Marketing Cloud, enables marketers to scale social marketing across their organizations, listen and respond to customer conversations, and connect the dots between social interactions and business results.

“Today’s social marketers are challenged to validate their social spend,” said Bill Ingram, vice president of product management, Digital Marketing, Adobe. “Adobe Social makes it easy to measure business impact from social campaigns and use that data to optimize strategy in a highly visual format.”

New Social Platforms Supported

On a daily basis, social marketers attempt to listen to the vast amounts of available social data, use that data to publish compelling content and then create better digital experiences for their audience. At the same time, they look to foster two-way conversations with customers and prospects to nurture these relationships. And they need to do all of this across an ever-growing number of social platforms.

With that in mind, Adobe Social is now integrated with Flickr, Foursquare and Instagram, which complement existing integrations with Facebook, Google+, Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube and many more to offer the most comprehensive understanding of social conversations, consumer behavior, and real-time trends. The addition of Foursquare is unique as Adobe Social is the first to capitalize on the social network’s exclusive partnership with leading data provider, Gnip, to leverage the full fire hose of Foursquare’s check-in data. Access to local-mobile data will help social marketers understand the movement in customer check-ins, the competitive landscape, and how localized marketing initiatives align with specific venue check-in data.

Adobe Social is also adding the ability to publish content to and analyze metrics associated with LinkedIn Company Pages and Groups, features that will support relationship-building on this critical professional network. The addition of these new platforms increases Adobe’s consumer touch-points, enabling social marketers to scale across the enterprise and build a more complete understanding of the consumer.

“Adobe Social is enabling Mastercard to seamlessly engage with local markets around the world, building trust through online listening, conversation and community,” said Adam Broitman, vice president, Global Digital Marketing, Mastercard. “Now that’s priceless.”

Predictive Publishing Predicts Social Content Performance

Adobe also made available today a powerful new predictive publishing capability for Adobe® Social, which predicts social engagement on individual pieces of content and automatically suggests ideal timing to improve how that content will perform. The new predictive publishing feature in Adobe Social helps social teams deliver content that will best resonate with their audience. And because the solution learns as it goes, it continually refines recommendations and gets smarter with each action.

New Adobe Marketing Cloud Interface

Utilizing the new unified Adobe Marketing Cloud interface, now available for Adobe Social, marketers and their teams can now surface valuable insights and collaborate more effectively. This collaboration extends not only across their own company but across distributed external teams as well—improving workflows, streamlining marketing activities, and maximizing ROI. With the new single sign-on feature, customers can directly access Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions from within one unified interface, and the new social feed will deliver relevant internal content and insights shareable across Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions.

Adobe’s Kuler beta site resurrects photo-color picker

Adobe Systems has launched a beta version to try out changes to its color-picker Kuler service, including the restoration of an earlier feature to extract dominant colors from photos.

Kuler lets people assemble quintets of colors into a color scheme that’s saved into their own archive; people can browse others’ schemes as well. The colors can be imported into Adobe’s Illustrator software, too.

The photo tool is available by loading the new Kuler beta site. Adobe said Monday it’s seeking feedback on the changes, which it may or may not keep. Adobe also provided an option to use a less obtrusive color wheel and to shrink borders around colors so designers can better judge how they look together.

Kuler is useful, though hardly a heavyweight app like Photoshop or After Effects. But it’s interesting to watch since it’s got new-era online, collaborative, and social aspects that seem to be a priority for Adobe as it tries to convince skeptics that its $50-per-month Creative Cloud subscription is more than just a new way to pay for the old Creative Suitesoftware.

When Adobe cut over to its Creative Cloud subscription program, it introduced an iOS app that also can pick a color scheme from a photo.

Adobe once had a Kuler app for Android, but scrapped it and is channeling its resources toward the Kuler Web interface at present.

In response to a request for a Kuler Android app, an Adobe staff member had this to say:

While the iOS app and the discontinued Android app do have similar capabilities, they are actually quite a bit different. We have found that people use tablets and mobile phones very differently. So, we created the iPhone app with a different focus in mind — which translated to different features, UI, and interactions.

We have also found the tasks most people wanted to accomplish with Kuler, on a tablet device, are very similar to the tasks people undertake with the Kuler website. So, we’ve invested a lot of time and effort into updating the site to embrace the latest Web standards (also announced at MAX). And, it should work really well on Android and iOS tablets. We look forward to getting these updates in the hands of users to hear what they think.

We understand there are many Android phone users who may find an app like the Kuler iPhone app useful, and we’ll monitor demand for that over time.

In my tests on a Nexus 7 tablet, I was able to use the normal Kuler site, but the photo upload and color-wheel shrinking features had some problems. I could use photos I took on the spot and from the photo gallery, but imports from Google+ galleries, Dropbox, and Google Drive failed. Worse, the color wheel for picking colors by hand didn’t work with my touch screen.

Laser App Software Announces Core Initiatives for 2013 Broker-Dealer Conference

Laser App Software, the leading provider of forms automation and management software for the securities and insurance industries, today announced the key initiatives planned for the 2013 Broker-Dealer Conference. The conference will take place from August 21 through August 23 and will be held at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina. The conference brings 300 broker-dealer executives and software providers into a collaborative environment to focus on technology trends and integrations.

Laser App has geared the 2013 conference around the optimization of working in a mobile practice. This is in response to the overwhelming industry push toward mobility. Everything from the “Advisor adoption of technology” presentation by author and industry expert Joel Bruckenstein, to demonstrations on integrations with the major custodians, to the e-sign acceptance presentation, and the recently produced software integrations with our partners are all geared toward broker-dealers supporting their reps in a mobile environment.

At last year’s event, Laser App released the Anywhere Platform its pure HTML mobile solution. This year, Laser App is unveiling a myriad of enhancements and integrations to the platform designed to meet the needs of both broker-dealers and advisors.

As always, there will be a blend of work and play. The evening event will be a casino cruise around the San Diego harbor where attendees will be treated to dinner, drinks, and their favorite table games. The Thursday lunchtime keynote speaker is Reggie Brown, a comedian and impressionist, known for his impersonation of President Barack Obama.

“Over the last 7 years, the Laser App conference has evolved from a user group meeting to a place where hundreds of broker-dealers come to learn and interact with each other and solution providers. I want every broker-dealer to leave the conference knowing where they’re headed and which solution providers can solve their problems, and I want them to enjoy themselves,” said Robert Powell, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Laser App Software.

“The Laser App Conference has been incredibly useful for broker-dealers to learn more about technology advancements in the financial services industry. The conference is consistently high-energy and covers important topics such as straight-through-processing, integration, and mobile business processing. We look forward to the conference every year as a way to learn more about where we can improve our operations, and how technology can benefit our practice,” said Chris Shaw of ProEquities.

Software AG today announced it was positioned by Gartner, Inc., a leading industry analyst firm, in the Leaders Quadrant of the recently published Magic Quadrant for On-Premises Application Integration Suites. In gaining this recognition, vendors were evaluated based on completeness of vision and ability to execute. The quadrant evaluates the application integration and SOA project market, which are strategic for Software AG as a vendor of application infrastructure middleware.

Adobe Foundation Announces 2013-2014 Creativity Scholarship Recipients

The Adobe Foundation today announced the recipients of its first annual Creativity Scholarships, available to teens who participate in the Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) program. For the 2013-2014 academic year, scholarships have been awarded to 25 students from 13 countries, including Argentina, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka and the United States. Recipients demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, a strong creative portfolio and commitment to pursuing a career in a creative field.

Designed to ignite creative confidence in youth, AYV is helping support the next generation of creative thinkers and equipping them with resources to help advance their education. AYV follows a creativity curriculum and provides the digital tools, training and professional mentorship students need to develop essential skills such as self-expression, ideation, collaboration, flexibility and persistence. All AYV students produce original projects in animation, video, photography and other digital media categories, spotlighting issues important to them including poverty, bullying and climate change.

“The youth receiving our Creativity Scholarships demonstrate tremendous creative potential,” said Michelle Crozier Yates, director of corporate responsibility, Adobe and Adobe Foundation executive director. “We’re thrilled to see outstanding young people from our AYV community pursuing education that will continue building their creative skills and give them an edge in our rapidly evolving, highly competitive global economy.”

Adobe’s recent State of Create global benchmark study, published in April 2012, surfaced concerns about a “creativity gap” in five of the world’s largest economies. The research revealed that four in 10 people believed they do not have access to the tools needed to support creativity in the classroom.

“I believe creativity-focused programs are an important part of education because they allow students to express themselves and build confidence,” said Eva Miller, an AYV participant and 2013 Creativity Scholarship recipient. “Through AYV, I’ve gained invaluable skills and discovered that I want to become a filmmaker. The Creativity Scholarship is giving me the opportunity to pursue my dreams and make a positive impact through my films.”

About the Creativity Scholarships

The Creativity Scholarship program provides financial support to students who are in their final year of high school, upper secondary school or the first year of post-secondary education. Applicants must have participated in the AYV program through Adobe’s network of more than 800 strategic partners in 52 countries. The Creativity Scholarship program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), an independent not-for-profit founded in 1919. IIE is among the world’s largest and most experienced international education and training organizations.
